Jeanne West, RN, MHA, Community Engagement Manager

Jeanne has been connected with Hospice of Santa Barbara since 1983 when she owned a private duty home care agency that interfaced with HSB. She went on to become a volunteer in 1997 because she loved our mission. During the impending death of her dearest friend and then shortly thereafter, the life-altering diagnosis of her husband, she became a client of HSB and learned, first-hand, the value of HSB services. After the death of her husband and unexpected death of her brother, she again turned to HSB for support. Just before coming to work at HSB in early 2018, she had worked as the enrollment coordinator for Doctors Assisting Seniors at Home. Prior to that, she held administrative positions in senior living communities, and served as a healthcare consultant, assisting seniors with navigating health care resources. Her responsibilities here at HSB include teaching programs relating to end-of-life care; informing the community about HSB; and conducting workshops on advance health care directives. Jeanne has received recognition and numerous awards from community groups such as Human Services Association, Central Coast Alzheimer’s Association, and Alliance for Living and Dying Well. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, baking, photography, gardening, and decorating for the holidays.
